Phew l'm back

Where has the time gone its been a month since my last confession/post but l have been busy l have made 3 granny square bags and sold one which was great for the old ego l will post a piccy soon.

l have also just done my first Vintage and Craft fair selling my new obsession Granny Blankets these are just a few of the ones l have. My only trouble is l love them all and don't want to sell them.
l have also just received my 'Molly Makes' and yet again the features are so inspiring if you haven't sen a copy have a flick through at the news stand and you'll be hooked- everyone l tell about it is surprised when they see a copy as to how good it is.

Its not like me to be on trend but l am(l think). Well over the last few weeks l have been moving in the 'Granny Blanket' trend and have managed to source quite a few with the intention of keeping some for the festivals and then selling some of the others, well the new issue of Molly makes has just popped on my mat and inside it has a super feature on crocheting and features a fab 'granny blanket. They seem to be making a revival.

And l have got to share these cute little kits that have just arrived from 'pupurin' they are for a teddy,kitty,puppy and bunny. l could not resist them who knows how l found them thats the mystery of esty. Anyway please have a look at their store pupurin.etsy.com well worth a few pounsds

A Yarn

l have embarked on another fad and am going to make my crocheting into another arm of my crafting - Don't tell Pete and supposed to be scaling crafting down not starting another branch. l have decided to attend a craft 'yarn' fair at the end of Nov so need to get on.

Rag Doll Kits

l have found some really useful fabric by Patty Young called 'Play Date' The fabric can be made up into rag dolls- see the pics

I am going to put together some kits using one doll template and put everything needed to finish it in a cloth bag, a pattern for the dress and a piece of fabric will also be part of the kit. What do you think?

Mollie Makes

l just had to share this new magazine with you - l saw a reference to it on another blog which also mentioned another magazine giving out a free CK tote bag so whilst looking for that l saw the Mollie Makes magazine. Thought l'd give it ago as the CK bag looked rubbish and now l've cancelled Gardners World and subscribed to Mollie Makes. even the cover inspires me l love the way its laid out and the pictures are lovely- just my cup of tea.

These are a little taste as to what l have been up to the last few weeks - they are brooches, the sailing boats have little seagull buttons to finish them and the mushrooms have bead embellishments. l love them as do all the children.

Since the Royal Wedding and all the bank holidays l have found it difficult to get back in the swing of things l have lost track of the days l cannot wait until next week to have a 'normal week'

The other thing that has been going on is l have had the drive paved l am so pleased with it but will need to get to grips with the border now. l feel as though the 2 lads doing the drive have become part of the family they have been here so long and the amount of coffee, milk and sugar we have gone through as doubled my shopping budget LOL. Today is the last day fingers crossed the weather holds out- then l can clean up, the dust is in everything.

And talking about the front door my new one is ordered and should be with us sometime next week.

If the rain holds off today l may have a few hours in the garden and just put the finishing touches to the borders so it has the wow factor when everyone comes for the 'look'

Wedding Wednesday

I've succumb to peer and press pressure and have got a little excited for the royal wedding. l had vowed not to and that its just another day off but more and more people are organising events and l'm getting sucked in.

I thought that l would try something 'easy' for a Bank Holiday craft so here it is - A Heart made of Buttons - this one will be called 'Together Forever' l used some of my button stash both vintage and new along with a new box frame 30cm x 35cm so quite large.Looking about similar pictures are about £65.00 so l think these may sell at £25.99 l will be listing this one one Esty in a few minutes just to test the water. Its sink or swim with these.

l have just come back from my second cream tea of the Bank Holiday so next week l will be on gruel and water if l want to lose weight but heres a picture of a cream tea to keep you all going

There was a Mouse Where?

l've made the first woodland creature from the book and its a .......Mouse. l managed to find a piece of jumper l had used to make corsages and there was just enough for a small mouse. It needs a little refining as you always learn from your first one. l have felted the jumper for the next project and will hopefully be posting a pictures of a badger next.

l bought this jumper all excited ready to do felting and its still not arrived. l watched the postman with baited breath and he just shook his head and said those sad word's 'no post today' :(

l even went car booting on Sunday to try and find a suitable jumper but to no avail all my hopes are pinned on the jumper that should have been.

l've genned up on what to do and l've got the pattern and machine at the ready.

Lets see what tomorrow brings(that a song if l ever heard one)

Thrifty tips of the week:

Freeze your candles. Put your candles in the freezer for an hour before lighting as cold candles last longer and don't drip.

Join a site such as Groupon or KGB deals these all offer discounted treats for yourself or family - l can recommend Groupon as have used a few times

It arrived

l could not be more excited to receive the new book and it came yesterday.
The whole family has had alook at it and l now have requests for the badger and a mouse.
With this in mind l tried to felt a jumper from the charity shop- this is a whole new story as it was like hens teeth trying to find a woolly jumper to felt. l went to our 5 local charity shops and came back with 1 to make anything out off. So l started my felting of the precious as it had become jumper and what happened to it? It collapsed full of holes and then just disintegrated into nothing.
So that me scuppered for a few days making any softies.
On the plus side its 15% of at Cath Kidston today so that where l'm off for a friends birthday present.

Spring has sprung a leak

Well what a change to the weather it now out with the wellies and up with the umberellas today, l'm dressed for summer and will now need to go and find some long pants and socks!!!

l have just bought this book from the hands of a fellow blogger her website is http://www.lucykatecrafts.co.uk/ and she makes some stunning items some of which l hope to have a go at.

l know what your going to say not much saving here but as the saying goes 'you have to speculate to accumulate'

This weeks thrify tips are for when buying in Charity Shops or at Car Boots.

1. Always have a plan-Know what you are looking for before you go in as you may end up with something you don't need.

2. Be open minded - things can be altered 4,or maybe passed onto friends and family.

3. Look for quality brands - these always keep and look better.

4. Go often as stock changes

5. Take cash to make you stop and think before buying.

Sunny again

Who would think l was up early on my day off and have actually got 5 alice bands in some stage of construction certainly not Pete whoc thinks l spend these days in bed. l have even had the dog out and had breakfast- phew l need a lie down.

The colours are more vivid than the photo, with the intention that the button should pull together all the colours of the felt and band. l think they work but as with everything it is personal taste

This spate of sunshine makes me want to clean and tidy especially when it shows up all the dust. We are more dusty than normal as they just finished resurfacing both the pavement and road surfaces in our road. So cleaning is the order of the day with all the windows open to let fresh air in which puts a smile on my face.

Another job l may try to address over the next few days is to open a Folksy Shop and a Facebook page which seems to be the way togo to get your products to the masses. Does anyone have any tip on doing either of these?

To Warm the Heart

l had already bought this felt before my cost cutting drive and l thought l would share the colours with you - they are actually brighter in real life. They will now be turned into brooches and hair slides at some point today! Sometimes things just get those creative jucies going and this pile of felt is one of them. As l have been tidying the craft room l have came accross things l had forgot about waiting to be turned into something crafty. A box of handwarmers waiting for covers, 6 hotwater bottles again waiting for covers, mothers day ribbon which l will have to keep until next year now, covered button and fabric l had long forgotten about to give a couple of examples. l am going to put together patchwork packs with some of the fabric l have come accross one way to raise some money and reduce the fabric before l'm found under a pile that has toppled over one day.

Yankee Doodle Dandy

I have made what can only be termed a brave start to my craft room but thought l would share one of my thrifty ideas - l love Yankee Candles from the smell to the shape of the jars. So when they were finished l was loathed to throw them away so now l use them to keep my beads, buttons etc they look lovely and very organised. On the negative side it also shows me how much money l have spent on candles !!!!(these a just a small sample of ones l've saved Anyone else watching the TV programme on spend thrifts? l could do better than them so l may start a weekly thrift tip. This weeks is therefore using candle jars for storage, and as a bonus tip l only buy my candles when they are the months special offer when they are discounted by 20% - saving me £4.00 on a large one. Day 2 of money making

l have just finished these sandwich bags they have turned out quite well so will be on their way to 'gifted' along with some hair slides and alice bands yet to be finished.

They say your work station reflects the type of person you are well the following picture is not for the faint hearted and is my craft room this morning What does it say about me?

l would say its is saying lots of ideas but not enough time(l will be making a start on it this morning.)

You may just make out my Dotte doll collection which l need to revisit my swapping has gone to pot as well as the crafting.

The door fund will be swelled this afternoon as am doing some extra work hours yeah!

New Front Door Fund

?You may think what a funny title for a post but this is the start of save till you can save no more for a new front door - catchy isn't it.

The crux of the problem is l have seen a new front door - note the I, and it is going to cost over £1000 DH can see no benefit in changing our existing front door as there is nothing wrong with it - mens logic. So he has said if l want one l have to save up!!!!!.

This mornings job is to collect all the neglected change from round the house and put into respective tins, l have a copper tin, a silver tin and a pound a day tin. The pound a day tin is for Christmas. Then at some point in the next few months l will need to count said change, this bit l hate.

l have also decided to up the craft out put and sell sell sell which l will put into the door fund.

Wish me luck.

We have also had a little addition to the Utratny household- Emilys first car - its a 1967 beetle and is what is known as 'Rat Look' she has just started lessons and this was her Birthday present.

The next time you see her she will have 'Fodder' on the top and rope round the bumper this should complete the look.

Spring Clean

l have neglected my Blog for phew 6 months where has the time gone- this the classic line of all neglected blogs l think.
l have been crafting during this time but also working which leaves very little me time. l have decided l will make me time and blog about it !
Today sees a beautiful spring day in Flixton so l think this has got my creative juices flowing. l have spread out all my Cath Kidston make books and am looking for Easter ideas.
Well now l've started l've got to stop as l need to pack up a drink and treats for a trip to our local gardens with the children.

Crafty Sunday

After speaking to my friend Lucy from 'gifted' l have pulled myself together this weekend and as this picture shows it has been chaos.

This was the started of 30 'pins and things jars' which are all sat drying ready for finishing.

l then got on with transforming some vintage tea sets for my 'more tea Vicar' pin cushions - l was very lucky as DH found these cups,saucers and side plates at a local car boot.

They may not be everyones taste but l love them, its just been a while since l have made any.

Any l don't manage to sell will be going with me to Salford Musems craft fair on the 17th Oct.

l did this fair last year and loved it, just to see other peoples ideas and crafts can be an inspiration.

Yes l'm back from across the water and l'm all Disney ed out. l am writing this just to try and keep awake as if l go to bed now l will not sleep.

We visited Harry Potter Land - the queues were bad but we did it and bought the wand- we were not chosen!!!

My focus now l'm back is get some stock together for my one and only craft fair in Oct which will be here before l know it. l will keep you up to date with how this plan goes.

Have just come back for a few days after a week in Padstow-l love Cornwall but the drive is a killer as we go in out VW towing a 70's Eriba caravan so 55/60 is about as fast as we can go.

The weather was kind to us this year and we all have a bit of colour which makes a change from the previous 2 years when it rained for most of the week.

We are now off again on Fri to see the big mouse and spend some time in Harry Potters World(not my idea of fun but l just go with the flow)

l am just realising that the shoes l thought l would be able to wear will not be broke in and my feet will look like this

and that wasn't the plan as l wanted to be comfortable......

Yes the deed was done and it was as l had feared and l know know why nothing fits any more.

Onwards and upwards as the saying goes.

On another note l have decided to sell a little of my fabric stash as it seems to have taken on a life of its own and is bursting out of the craft room currently. It is also a reminder of how much money l have spent and not put the fabric to any use. lf your like me everything was bought with a project in mind but time got the better of me.

Sometimes l feel like this when l cut into my fabric and then l start to keep the off cuts- what for?........ Some of the pieces are so small they are smaller than scraps.

LAZY Days

l have been lazy on both the crafting and blogging front for rather more weeks than l care to remember but l will try to make the effort with both plus the very embarrassing situation of my weight.

l know most of us struggle but l have peaked at my heavest weight bar being pregnant and my skin looks like a teenager. l have bought some over 40's vitamins and a Liz Earle skin care package. so instead of this

l am aiming at this ,

l am not going to waste my money at the moment on weight watchers as they

all ready have had enough. l will weigh myself tonight(this will be a secret)

and l will give you the losses or gains for the next few years!!!!!

Why not join me we can keep our weight secret and deal with the highs and lows together.

A Change is as good as a rest.

l decided to help me blog more frequently that an update to my blog format was needed. Hope you like it - it mat stay or may not l cannot decide.

l'm not sure if l have mentioned this(l know l haven't as l keep thinking it will go away) l an off to Glastonbury in a couple of weeks and today the ticket confirmation came to say were going.

My DD id taking 2 friends and this is their alternative prom so not one of these

We will all be wearing these and l have actually treated myself to these Cath Kidston blue spot ones and a Cath Kidston Kag in a Bag.

Not sure if this is really me but ha ho if you can't beat them join them. l plan to sit for 4 days in the camper van drinking lots of tea.

Yes this blog has been very neglected over the last month or two but for some reason today l wanted to write something.... Then what do l write ?

Well life has been busy as l'm sure all yours have been, l've kept up reading other blogs and maybe its just been a funny start to the year as lots of blogs went quiet and now seemed to have sprung back to life.

As always the craft room is full to bursting and one of the shops l supply to has asked me to start on craft kits so thats my next project when l've tided up.

Shop or Not

Why do l bother shopping on line? Its supposed to be easier! not this week.

l thought l would be organised and book my slot - that went ok, l did my shopping -that went ok, then l waited and waited. l had a cup of tea with the last of the milk not a problem l thought the shopping will be here soon. Might be a little late due to the weather but thats fine. DH said "just check its on its way" "no need "l said "no ones phoned me and we have had no email" " go on just check". so l did to be told my shopping had been cancelled without any notification or care.

"l can re book it" they said "When For?" "Saturday" she calmly replied. What a load of old rubbish - l'm lucky l could get out and do my own shopping but what if l had been on my own and elderly and relying on this Supermarket Giant to deliver what then?

Thats my first rant of the New Year but it will not be the last l'm sure.

Anyway heres a piccy of some yummy Orla Kiely fabric l have managed to get hold.

l know its a bit old hat now but l have to say it anyway 'HAPPY NEW YEAR'.

l have just finished reading in the Daily Mail that today is the day when all have an epiphany - realising that we have put on average 3-6lbs of Christmas excess weight OMG. The OMG is because l believe l have put a little more than that on. Thursday will see me at WW and l will start the long ,lonely and hungry path to weight loss.

l have also started my Sealed Tin and £365 in 365 days challenge as detailed in Martin Lewis' forum(this man is a genius) last year l saved £1200 in my tin just putting in what was left in my purse at the end of every week.

If l can save anyone can so have a go - it also gives ideas on how to up your income which we all could do with l'm sure.

Little Black dresses - not

Its the time of year which l think most women of a certain age and weight dread the most. Why may some of you ask well its time for the Christmas party!

Enough said for most women but l'll explain what it means to me and my friend which was typified by our girls night out last night.

even right up to the last minute l had prayed for it to be called of but no it went ahead and the wardrobe rampage started and ended with the contents of my wardrobe piled high into the middle of the bed. Why hadn't l been to weightwatchers for the last few weeks l could have lost at least another...........1llb(should have been a Stone) and l would have been able to fit into a little black dress and not leggings and a jumper. But out l went to be confronted at my friends door with a wild women holding up 3 different cardigans and shouting 'which one which one.'

We got to our destination to be confronted by drunken middle age men who had been let out for one night only LOL. one very sad man had a peg stuck to his collar to help chat up women - where do these men come from? and vey old women in very short skirts and young thin girls with not much on but not many who didn't even take there coats off(my friend with the cardy problem)

Why do we do it? what makes some of us put our hands up and others don't?

I'm in the put your hand up brigade.

Today was the local school Christmas fair and there l have been for 3 1/2hrs painting the little angels faces. If l see another reindeer today l will explode and my back is killing me. l wouldn't mind but l only do it for fun l'm not professional but children and parents still think we can magic the incredibles out of thin air. This year we had 3 of us doing, it as in the summer 2 wasn't enough, and people were complaining about the queues.

l'm off for some mulled wine now and a mince pie- l'm starting early with the festive spirit.

Look what arrived in the post - Cath Kidstons Christmas gift guide. It is full of ideas that friends and relatives can buy you for Christmas if only they could see a copy. My plan is to leave it out from now until Christmas for them to buy those last minute presents!!! l'll need to drops lots of hints as well and some of them still won't know what to get me. The rumour in my house is that the coke cola add has been seen, so as far as Em is concerned Christmas is on its way. This is one of the reasons l have changed my blog background to a Christmas theme and l hope this will spur me get on with my orders!!!!!

l have just been round our local charity shops and have found only 2 wool jumpers which can now be felted and made into? Well that's the problem my inspiration is fading. l have made the following brooches the one on the left is made for my DH Christmas jumper last year which l managed to part felt on the 3rd wash, so l do have some ideas but it depends on how big the felt becomes. It now going round at 90 while the family is out, what they don't know about won't kill them except when the electricity bill comes in.

As most of you may have read l'm supposed to be on weight watchers - more like food watching and not weighing is how its going at the moment. So l thought l would share these yummy cupcakes before they go off to there new homes.These are the type of cakes l should be handling.

Couldn't you just eat them all up. Some will be having sequin sprinkles on and ribbon to hang up with.

Schools back today and its the run down to the C word here at ShabbyChic.

These are todays work Door Stops in Orla Kiely fabric- which is like hens teeth to find and when you do its top price but ha ho(Christmas reference).If anyone know where to buy it at a reasonable price then pleeeeeese let me know.

Then in the back ground l have some pin cushion jars on the go.

l think my crafting mojo is back - the fabrics help as they inspire me to sew.

In between all this sewing l'm tiling the kitchen floor so my back is killing me from bending over and knees hurt too.

As l have been having slight blog block the last week or so the idea of wordless Wednesday really appealed. Just post a picture that says it all for you and so the picture l posted shows the fabric l have been working with over the last few days. It is Robert Kaufman and called Metro Chicken. l have made this fabric in a Brood of Chicken Door stops - l even went as far as giving them names - l do need to get out more. l'll let you know what the feedback is on this if they sell in their new home.

Back to Normality

Yes its over my first craft fair in 20 odd years and wait for it l ............made a profit!!!!! This was very unexpected as although busy it wasn't packed out. The venue was the Salford Art Gallery in Manchester and the crafters were on the second floor of the gallery. My only critisim is the quietness l could have done with some piped music as l felt l had to speak to everyone to break the silence.

My DD came to help as DH is in Barcelona on a Conference(jolly) she was a great help until she lost the plot and put a sticky label on my back which said loser- enough said.

Not sure if l will do another yet but watch this space

l've had that email waited for by many. My Cath Kidston book 'Sew' is on its way- l hope its here before weekend l cannot wait.

This picture shows some of the little dogs l've made for the craft fair next week- a real pack. l'm not sure how much to take so it will be a little trial and error. The worst thing is my WW buddy wants to come - she thinks there is food on.

And the other is a display from one of my new customers showing my items - l love the way they are all in the basket just my type of thing.

l have also made some bunting using this blog as inspiration- l thought l could decorate my stands with it. knowing my look this will be the only thing to sell and its not even for sale.

Its Official

Yes Christmas is coming - l decided that as the Craft fair l'm doing has advertised as "buy your Christmas presents" then l'd better do some Christmasy things so l've started with some tags for either 'posh presents' or 'tree decorations' they needed ribbons yet but at least its a start.

I've also made these corsages which l have shown a few friends and they think they will sell ok but who knows - everyone will be getting one for Christmas if they don't sell but what will my Dad do with one?

l'll try and show you some of the things l'm doing over the next few days but at the moment its chaos. l hate mass production whenl craft as l get fed up of making the same thing.

Saturday Night

Its been a funny day fitting in painting hearts and running round with the hover.The confirmation dropped on my mat for the craft fair in Oct and as it dropped on the mat the penny dropped that l don't have any and l mean any stock.
It is 3 weeks tomorrow so l will need to burn the midnight oil the next few weeks.
The craft fair is in Salford Museum in Manchester which is about 15mins from me.
Anyway in preparation of this l have been look at ways to personalise some items and have found this article which l wanted to share.

“TYPEWRITTEN FABRIC LABEL”

I’ve been toying with the idea of having labels made for years, but haven’t gotten around to doing it. Adding a personal label to some of my holiday gifts was something that I thought of in the last days before Christmas. There was no time to order printable fabric sheets (that I now plan on ordering for the shop) or even iron-on transfer paper.
I pulled out my beloved Underwood Portable typewriter and some large scraps of cotton muslin and typed right onto the fabric! If I had planned more carefully, I could have done sweet individual messages to each gift recipient. Alas, this year it will be the same heartfelt message to all.
In order to feed the muslin fabric into the typewriter, I folded it around a piece of copy paper. Ironing freezer paper onto the back of the fabric would have been another way to accomplish making the fabric stiffer, but I didn’t have any at home that night. Once the fabric is fed into the roller, then you just type away! I really love the feeling of typing on a typewriter and especially the ‘clacking’ sound.
To heat set the ink on labels, I ironed them for a few minutes. The labels went on items that are never going to be washed, but I still wanted to do my best to make them as permanent as possible. I had some leftover labels that I threw in the wash out of curiosity. The ink faded slightly from the washing, but is still visible. The idea that the label may fade over time, is actually appealing to me.
Sewing the labels was simple, I used a small zigzag stitch around the outside edge of the label to secure it in place. I really adore them! I’ve decided to add a label or message to as many of my makings as possible from now on. Tiny details can add so much delight to a handmade item.

l just thought this was a effective and simple way to add a nice personnel touch what do you think?

It was a Late Night

Last night was a late night for all the wrong reasons, no l wasn't doing orders or watching a film, or having a meal l was helping my 15y DD do her Food Tech course work!!!! Why she thinks that a little work will help her pass l don't know and at the moment this lack of work is causing the most stress to me and DH she is oblivious to it. This combined with my DH starting on the kitchen redesign in the middle of trying to do orders, clean up and work is tooooooooo much.

And another thing l missed yesterday was the 1st Birthday to celebrate Cath Kidston at the Trafford Centre and they were having cakes - yes cakes and a bag give away. Who had to work ?yep me

So l have decided that l'm going to treat myself -hah- to a new Cath Kidston bag so watch out DH because he will be paying.

Feel much better now for a quick rant and may even tidy up in the craft room which by the way will be moving to our summer house so l can leave out my orders and bits and bobs without causing any more mess indoors. Well thats the idea but Winter is coming and l don't do cold!!! Speak to all soon.

Its been a quick week

l cannot believe that it has been over a week since my last post, l'm so sorry but l have been busy. l have been approached by another shop to stock my items but as with every thing the orders have been coming quicker than l can make the items. My days have been filled with hearts, corsages,key rings and scottie dogs. Anyway l've finished them all and they will be duly packaged up in the morning after a little quality check for those loose threads.

We did manage to get away at weekend to VANFEST which is a must for any VW enthusiasts.
The weather was fantastic all day but the evenings were a little cold - winter is on its way.

Still no camera so pictures we have none Sorry.

Inspired

Still no camera so its back to old faithful hence the rather poor picture.
l have been inspired by both my holiday in Cornwall and the new books l have already raved about and come up with the Beach Hut pictured below. The first of these will be on their way to a new shop opening in Devon along with a few other goodies.
Over the last few months l have been very lucky to have been approached by a number of shops with a view to supplying them and it has given me quite a boost.
These outlets for my crafts also mean l can create things that normally l wouldn't try and l gain feedback positive and negative.
l would love to open a shop myself but then l wouldn't have time to craft which is what l love so at the moment l feel l have the best of both worlds - a few sales and crafting.

Well back to work as orders don't get done whilst blogging.
Hope you all are having a good day and the kids are back at school tomorrow so more me time.

Yes l'm back to a very wet Manchester just when l'm trying to wash the holiday clothes !

The title of my post is about the only Spanish l have managed to use this holiday but it has been well used.(3 cafe lattes please) It was during these coffees that we were able to escape the children for 1/2 hr.

It was actually too warm for me 38-40C and when sat on the beach l felt like as was being cooked like a well greased turkey. Can anyone tell me how the Spanish manage to sit on the beach and not have a grain of sand on their bodies? and be perfectly turned out at all times?

This is a short post but l'm raring to craft so watch this space for some new item - bad news is Em and her friends somehow manged to break the new camera so although l have downloaded the hol pics l don't have a camera at the moment : ( , l'm off to search for the old one now .

What day is it and where am l seem to sum up the last few days, l don't know about you but these holidays are just flying by before l know it my first craft fair will be here and gone.

Another book landed at my feet over the weekend . It again is full off stunning goodies to make- but would l want to sell?

Heres a quick glance at my blanket so far - maybe the colours are not to ever ones taste but l'm pleased with it so far. My only grip is the price of wool, gone are the days of cheap wool l think all this crafting and make your own is pushing craft supplies prices up. Thats my gripe today done now

Yes they have arrived, actually posty had left one of them next to the shed last week when we were away but didn't leave a note so it could have stayed there for month, my new books are fab and full of things to reignite the crafter in me. l'm hoping that these books will more my crafts up a level if that makes sense. One of the books has even got me thinking about Christmas crafts.......

l will be attempting so of the things in the books so watch my blog for success or not.

Also this felt has arrived along with the pastel coloured button in all shapes and sizes. The colours of the felt are so yummy and are destined for hair slides- something else l thought l'd try!

Divine Dotees

All these have been sent to me as swaps from my SWAP BOT partners.

from right - left they are Pretty in Pink Dotee, Baby Dotee, Flapper Dotee and Dance Hall Dotee.

People are so talented and l just love the work and love that has gone into them.

My crafting has been quiet today as much of my time was spent wrapping items to send out which is the part l hate most-l like selling but not wrapping.

l should be painting hearts - they are drying - but couldn't resist showing you another one of my new items.

This is a prototype for some brooches l'm going to make. What do you think?

Before l went away l got some embroidery cotton for the sewing machine(yummy colours) so thought l could use these and some cupcake fabric that wasn't doing anything and this is the result.

Oh yes l'm back from Cornwall - even though the weather wasn't cracking the flags a good time was had by all. We managed a visit to the Cath Kidston shop in St Ives, it was that small l nearly missed it - l refrained from buying as l couldn't decide what l wanted which isn't like me but to be fair the selection was tiny.

l've decided that next year l am going to enrol in surf school, l heard on the radio that a man of 72 had been on a board but as OH said it didn't say he was in the sea just on a board.

My only purchase is this picture which reminds me of us in our van - l purchased another last year- another collection is forming.

Well l'm off to paint some hearts now and l'll be seeing them in my sleep at this rate.
Will photo my blanket later, its coming on albeit a little slow.

l've just finished the last of my orders before l go away and its now off to do a bit of packing.
We're of to Cornwall for a week.
The wool l ordered arrived yesterday so l'm taking it with me to start on my blanket - Pete just pulled a face as another hobby arrived, just wait till winter when l'm all wrapped up who will be jealous then ?
l'm not planning to blog or create while l'm away but l'm sure l will buy some stuff for when l return. Fingers crossed for a bit of sun and lots of rest.

l've been toying with the idea of crocheting a blanket - inspired by some of the fabulous creations over on http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/ and some others so l have sent off for some wool. Hopefully it will arrive before weekend then l can take it on holiday something to do when the weather is bad.

This is one that Lucy has done and it looks so cuddly l can see myself on the cold winter nights wrapped up watch TV - lets see what happens.

Going Out

No one tells you when you start work with people that they have 'Nights Out' and for many years l have avoided functions like this, but last night l decided to venture into the Friday end of term night out.

The nightmare starts with what to wear- it rained all day so choice one linen pants and summer top were out and on went the jeans that are still a little tight. This same pants have been worn by me pre weight loss so l must have looked a real sight then.

Next is how to get there - l drove so no drinking so l was a real bore

Then the drinks kitty - these annoy me not drinking as l like to get my moneys worth at all times and me on coke was not in my eyes my moneys worth!

And then the food being a diet bore as well as a drink bore l only chose so called healthy options.

finally what to talk about l have nothing in common with these people bar working with them.

All in all a pleasant night was had !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL not to be repeated in the near future.

Cath Kidston Store Found

l must go round with my eyes closed when l shop but not today l have found my ultimate shop/franshise right on my door step.

Yes l shout for all you crafters with a love of Cath Kidston - a Cath Kidston section in Selfridiges at the Trafford Centre(open since Sept) :( . l could just pass through and um and ah at the goodies on offer oh no l had to strike up a conversation with the manager. Firstly about this new book, l have preordered from Amazon(l am that person)and then we talked about crafting in general and how John Lewis run craft sessions sewing and crocheting. She seemed very interested and l did resist putting myself forward for running them. My suggestion is when the book is launched in Oct they should run a sewing group so that people can make the bag as shown in the book - she will probably get a pay rise for this idea now but it was mine.

Anyway l now have a new best friend- the Cath Kidston Manager.

l have had to take a break for lunch so thought l would eat and post. so heres some pictures of the fabric that has just arrived- l was led to this fabric via another blogger but she managed to control her spending and only buy a little whilst l went mad a brought too much and got stung by customs for another £11.00. l cannot tell Pete as he thinks the fabric was a bargain !!!!

l am going to use some of them on the mason jar pincushions l think they will look the part along with some East of India tape measure ribbon.

Vans,Vans and more Vans

Yes we're back in one piece from Camper Jam and ready for a rest. This camping lark is very tiring and if l see another sausage or burger for the next few weeks l will scream. The girls had a great time especially on the Fri night with the band dedicating Killers songs to them!!!!!

So now its nose to the sewing machine as we will be off to Cornwall in a couple of weeks and l need finish of some new projects plus some curtains for the Eriba awning.

l also got Em's report from school and it seems that she is an expert at windsurfing - this is what she has told her teacher- she has never even been on a windsurfer. It will look good on her CV so she says LOL.

Thursday 50's/60'sDay

It is our local schools 50th Anniversary this year and today was labelled a 'Play Ground Party' based on a 50's - 60's dress code.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This saw me having a bigger wardrobe malfunction than normal and l had to pour myself into pedal pushers that had been put out for the charity shop along with a pair of red shoes l cannot walk in. l was fine today as long as l didn't walk or eat. l had to take the shoes of on the way home and undo my pants-l'm too old for all this messing about.

So Hot and Bothered

We have just come back from late night shopping in Manchester and l'm so tired and hot and bothered and broke. l'll have to work double hard tomorrow to cover the - l really need that clothes cry. at least me and Em are the same shoe size so we can swap and l'm sure it will be Em pinching mine.

l received my cupcake fabric today it is so cute and l will be making key rings with it (at the moment)

As always my mind is full of ideas but l am running out of hrs. l have booked a craft fair later in the year so will need to get stuck in with puting needle to the fabric.

Its Time

Yes its time for you to meet the BUS she doesn't have a name but she is a she. She has been part of the family for 4 years and we have never looked back or had any money since - there is always something she needs says OH.

We are also lucky enough to have a 1972 Eriba which we pull along- a VW road train. The next few weeks will see us at Camper Jam and then Cornwall for a week at Harlyn Sands near Padstow. This is a real camper van holiday and the we can look forward to good old VANFEST.

Afternoon of Sun

l should have been working this afternoon but it has just been cancelled but l will still get paid so what more can you ask for.

So the garden is calling- for those who maybe wondering yes l did put my hand up for the gardening swap at the local group so l now need to plant and divide my babies(l look on my plants as part of the family)The first 2 pictures show a Delphinium that has the most stunning colour every year it grows and before it gets a chance the dog knocks it over but this year touch wood it seems ok.

here is a picture of some hosta's l have managed to do, June & Spilit Milk and a Heucara 'Caramel' . l though to finish of a picture of one of my hanging baskets would be nice.

The Barks Worse than the Bite

These Scottie Dogs were inspired by my neighbours dog Lucy and as my title says the barks worse than the bite. she will start barking at a paper bag rustling and l dread putting out my washing some days.

The weekend sees me joining my gardening group- we have decided to reform as a plant swap group(Why me) at our first plant swap meeting to outline our plans for our first plant swap to be help locally. l don't intend to be put for ward for any jobs but lets just see if l manage to keep my hand down(it will be a first)

55 Days

55 days is how long l've got until were off on our hols to Spain with a few families so its save, save, save , make, make, make and work as many extra hours as l can ! Phew its a big task but someones got to do it. Everyone will be wanting new clothes, hair, makeup the list goes on.

Its a good job l enjoy crafting as l may become chained to the chair.

l have made some little pillows that are for putting in drawers or just on the side. l have part filled them with rose petals so they smell divine. l have called them Scottie the Dottie. l would have posted a picture but Em's got the camera again so will do it later.

Its all a Blur

The title tells you how my week has been- a Blur and its not down to drink. l don't seem to have much chance to make anything other than finish orders but hopefully the rest of the week will calm down. l did do a great swap with Kas from http://madlyswaps.blogspot.com/ l am so pleased with the brooch and she was worried l wouldn't. OH has taken this picture so l apologise before l get any comments David Bailey he is not.

The other thing l have finished is this Dotee Doll which was for my American Partner(so no chance of it being seen before she gets it) The theme was Dance Hall Dotees from the old Westerns.

Also l stayed the same at WW which is a miracle with the amount l ate on Saturday-l had 2 teas barby and pizza it wasn't planned but l couldn't let anyone down so had to be in 2 places at once. Then to rub salt in the wounds my diet buddy lost 4lbs!!!!!! its not fair !!!!!

Pins 'N' Things

These are a couple of pictures of my next new items 'Pins 'N' Things these are pin cushions that unscrew so that you can keep needles, threads, buttons and ribbons in or anything really.

One of them is for a pin cushion swap l've signed up for l won't tell you which one as not to spoil the surprise. Getting hold of the jars was the hardest part but l managed to find some. l will be listing these in my Esty Shop asap.

Heather Ross - the bottom of my pile

Well l now know l've more fabric than sense. l was looking through my stash to find a novelty print for sending on a swap when l can across some Heather Ross fabric. l soooo love her fabric prints and the quality is second to none. so it came as a big surprise to find tucked at the bottom off a very large pile of fabrics to find quite alot that l had never even unfolded after buying.
l have chosen these 2 to send to my swap partner and l'm sure she will love them(If not she can always pass them on) and l have put the rest of them to the top of the pile just waiting for inspiration- they could be there some time as my inspiration is a bit drained at the moment.

This is a pin cushion made using a vintage tea cup & saucer, the fabric is vintage Laura Ashley - l have then embellished with beads,buttons and ribbon. What do you all think - are these a goer or not ?please let me know before l go into full production.

This is a picture of the Dotee l sent to my swap partner, the Theme was 'Polka Dotee'. l can post a picture now as my partner has received it. l'm due one on the same theme so will show and tell when it gets here.

l've got to get down to my swaps today and have a pin cushion to make, and another Dotee, after these l have another 5 to do- l love it when the posty gets here and it lands on the mat you never know what will turn up.

Just to keep up you upto date with the cossy l managed to change the shorts and now possess 2 Bikinis no shorts l just need to lose the stone l promised myself.

My diet buddy went to WW and put 8lbs on in 4 weeks so shes no help to me!!!!LOL. l managed to lose the 2lbs l put on so l treated(well OH did- it was our joint account)myself to the kitchen scales.Well this morning l used them for my bran flakes and the size l am allowed is about 1/2 of what l have been having.

Schools Back

Yep thats the end of the May Hols and all the kids are back my DD has been back a week already but at least now l can begin the count down to summer.

l've just come back from school to find my Dotee Kit from my SwapBot partner Red Robin- this picture show all the goodies she has sent. As soon as l have made her l will post a picture.

l managed a couple of brooches yesterday see what you think - the buttons are to die for.

l'm off to finish some orders now and my ATC's on the Title of Home for my next swap- this swapping is as good as selling LOL.

Sunday- The morning after

Well l tried all day yesterday to get on here but time ran away with me. l did manage to make some crochet heart badges/corsages though here's a pic. l love the little LOVE charms l think they are so cute and they finish of the crafts.

My diet buddy came round in the afternoon bringing tales of woe and food excess some dieter shes becoming she recons about 7lbs that shes put on over the 2 weeks so who know where its leading. l must tell you about the bikini l brought- well l wanted a bikini with shorts so l duly purchased one on Fri but didn't try it on until l got home - Bo Derek l wasn't the shorts are that short that my stomach (getting smaller and by no means that big) hung over like a beer gut and when l bent over l had a builders bottom worthy of parking a bike in. Why do they make short shorts? they will be going back ASAP.

Then last night it was OASIS at Heaton Park OMG is was packed l think l must be getting to old to stand as this morning my back is killing me. Their were that many people crushing and swaying it was frightening - l've decided l need a seat in future but as my OH says their is nothing quite like OASIS fan.

My OH has just got called into work so l'm of for a morning of washing and makes.

Another Craft

On Tuesday l went to our local stamping group, l didn't know what l wanted to make but had seen a catalogue and loved the stamps and papers.

This is one of the cards l managed to make l was happy with how it turned it and will be going back for another meeting

l have bought some of the papers already so watch out l may even start entering some of the card challenges!!!

Here's the picture of the brown bird l made yesterday, l prefer the green ones but l have to vary my makes to keep people onboard.

l have noticed over the last week or two that my sales have slowed up but l suppose thats to be expected in the current climate. On the plus side its given me more time to create and build up some stock for my first craft fair.

l'm off to jet wash the decking before lunch today - a womans work is never done LOL.

Thursday - In the Garden

Morning all, it is still just morning but lunch is calling.

l've just been to the local nursery to select my plants for my hanging baskets. l love this time of year when l can use my own blends of natures colours to produce a hanging basket that soet of reflects how l feel and the colours l love. l'm a muted person for plants preferring mauves and pale pinks rather than oranges and reds. When l've had lunch l will be off in the garden for an afternoon of me time.

You may have notice l have changed the background to my blog - l decided to do this as l felt my old one was becoming depressing and now summers here l needed to breath a new life to my ramblings.

Wednesday Holiday Catch up

Yes l'm back- we went to Devon for a week and weather was just perfect for camping which makes a change as last year it rained whenever we took the van out. This is a picture l took just after l had the best Devon Cream tea ever. Weight Watchers went out the window this day and l even had to leave half a scone.!!!!! (l so wish l had eaten it now but l would have been sick)l've paid for it at the scales this week l put 2lbs on :(

l've been catching up on reading the blogs l follow and its put me back in the crafting mood.

These are a couple of Dotees l've made for swaps but l thought l'd share them with you.

l've also made some brooches inspired by Dots Birds see what you think- l'm going to add to ESTY later today. They are made from felt and embelished with beads - l think they turned out well but the proofs in the sales l suppose.

What a lovely day l've managed to get all my washing done and put away, its been sunny all day here in Manchester all l needed was a barbecue invite but didn't get one.
l have been busy making my dotees for the two swaps l've signed up for l'll post pictures when they have been sent so as not to spoil the surprise or upset.
l'll be missing from here for a few days as we're off to Devon in the camper and caravan so fingers crossed for some dry days- l don't mind what the weathers like as long as it is dry.

Thursday Catch Me While You Can

My title refects how this week has flown - as do all the weeks at the moment.

This morning l managed to make a couple of Brooches see what you think l've added them to my Estay Shop just now. The are made using Micael Miller COCO Danish Birds of Norway fabric and l have slightly filled them to give a 3D effect. As l've put they are not for the faint hearted but l love them and have added one to my own coat.

l've also decided to do my first craft fair for many many years so after next weeks hols l will need to get my head down and build up some stock. Trouble is l sell as quickly as l can make the items which is good in one way but its not helping me re stocking a stall.

Well l'm just off to put together some kits a demonstration l've elected to do but l may be back later.

Peace at Last

Well peace for a couple of hours Peter worked and Em was on her Duke of Edinburgh trial walk so l had a day to myself. l sorted the dog out put the washing in and settled down to craft and my mind went blank anyway postie came with my buys and so l could start on my second Dotee. I've called her Old Blue Eyes.

Also in the post was my ATC swap from Emma @ Kullakita. When l open up the envelope it literally popped open. It contains some crafty sayings l love it. The other pictures are the 2 l sent off to the swap. l have also joined http://www.swap-bot.com/ where l hope to swap Dotees and ATC's with other like minded people(mad as Pete says).

Well here is a picture of my completed Dotee Doll, l am so pleased with my first attempt, l saw this on Purple Sparkle Crafts as she had purchased a kit from http://www.dotslifeandart.blogspot.com/. This is a whole new world of swapping and l am hooked so as l said before if you want a swap then let me know. l would even swap a kit if anyone wanted to do that.

l have also had an Amelia Doll commisioned from Dot- she has posted pictures on her blog and l cannot wait for it to arrive.

Its been a busy week but not on new crafting, l needed to finish of my orders in between working and trying to clean up. Now l'm upto date with my orders l can spend some me time. Yesterday l received my second ATC from SparkysDad, it is amazing how people think of their ideas, it now takes pride of place next to my other one.Last night l finished off these 3 Corsages and have just listed them on Esty- this took me ages for some reason !!!! and now its mid afternoon. l might be a real mum this afternoon and make some carrot cakes or maybe not if the mood passes.

Well my ATC was warmly received from it recipient and the one l received in return is stunning, so much work in one small piece of card. I'm hooked and have sent of number 2 now so need inspiration for the next one. Scarecrows by the Bucket Load

We have just come back from the Scarecrows in Wray, we have had a great day bar the weather - winter seems to be back here in Manchester.

Some made people in very very very short shorts took park in the annual Fell walk but modesty for them prevents me from posting any pictures of the runners.

May Day Steam

We have just got back from May Day Steam which is held every year at our local park. This year it was sunny and dry for the first time in 3 years, so it is no surprise to find that Peter seems to have mild sunstroke. No hat or sunscreen seem to have played a major part in his sunstroke as well as a couple of lagers, chips and a burger. He needs to move about a bit more instead of sitting relaxing.

As l posted we were taking our Vespa with us- this picture shows the scooter when it was featured in Scootering and to our joy was featured on the front cover.

I'm now off to nurse poor Pete and make tea and not in that order.

l'm back from the footy(have to get with the man language, what does man on mean?) and yes we won l'm a City fan not United. l've just watched Britain's Got Talent-what a load of old tosh- cheap Saturday TV and which one is Ant and which one is Dec

why are they on everything just like Myleene.

As I've got the whole family on WW l could have really murdered a pizza for tea tonight what did Pete and Em want for tea - Beans on Toast, so I'm sat writing this post starving and no one else is hungry roll on breakfast.

Long Weekend ahead

l managed to send of my ATC and l've now decided to go on a card making workshop next week- see where this putting my hand up has got me again. l will need more space to keep this new craft as l'm filling up the craft room and l'm left with a little space for my chair again.

Anyway its a long weekend and mines already full - football (l'm a steward because if you cannot beat them join them and get paid), then we have May Day Steam with us taking our vintage Douglas Vespa- we call it Father Jack as the number plate is FEK---, to show. l actually ride my own Vespa during the nice weather to take the hassle out of parking and get round the traffic. Then on Sunday we are off to Wray in our Type 2 VW Camper, Wray is where the scarecrows are on show. l will post pictures when l get back as long as you don't mistake me for a scarecrow!

This ATC lark is very addictive l've finished my first one and have spent loads on things to make my second if my first goes down with the craft forum. l actually managed to stab myself with the kitchen knife after trying to use it as make shift saw - as we all do. l wonder if my tetanus is up to date?

l must be mad l have just put myself down on the craft forum to do an ATC why? l get so carried away with myself these thing sound like a good idea but is this one l can do? l will try as all the world loves a tryer and when all said and done l'm one of them.l found this picture of what to do with the ATC's and the different types

Today has been a no make date up to now l don't seem to be in the mood today we all have off days - l may venture in the craft room and see if l'm inspired but not before l've washed up and had a WW yogurt. l must just let off stream about my shopping ,which l have delivered, on two counts 1. i book the slot for 5.00pm-7.00pm what time has he tried to delivery it the last 3 week -4.30pm. 2. Why are all the use by dates tomorrow ?3. why haven't they applied the multi buy discounts? Its been like this the last few weeks and l'm fed up and l hate shopping.

No Pressure Then

Someone on the Craft Forum came up with a fad idea re following each others blogs so now l have today 9 followers so welcome to you all and thank you. This now gives the added pressure of actually writing something regularly with no spelling mistakes which if you have read my previous posts may be a problem. Also the quality of my pictures with need a little work but hayho we're in it for the long slog.

This is a picture of this mornings make- it a corsage made from vintage Laura Ashley Fabric,it looks better in the flesh.

Regarding the weight lose it was another 1lb this week and they made me go to Keep Fit after the WW class - my friend Anne-Marie saw the class advertised in the Chip shop when she was buying Fridays tea(What does that tell you diet-chips don't go together)so off we trotted well l can just about walk this morning me and exercise don't go.

Anyway l'm off for my salad lunch and water - it sounds so appetising doesn't it.

l've decided to try and run an Esty shop at the same time as selling my crafts on Ebay. l opened one last year in a rush of madness and didn't really do anthing with it. l had called it BrokenHearted but my Ebay Store is ShabbyChic08 and my labels say ShabbyChic so l had to change my Esty intro to this :

Sunday Night

where has the day gone? My DD has mock GCSE's this week so she has spent today revising ready for tomorrow, she has done revision but it seems to much pressure at 15. I've just been to my friends Suzannes who is meant to be losing weight as well but has lost the plot, the major discussion seems to be around me shrinking in height not weight. l do seem to be getting smaller as l now have to buy short length pants when before l was a regular length so whats all that about? Then the other topic was about the noise that tadpoles make at night!!!!!!!!!! l need to make new friends.

Saturdays Lie In or Not

all week Mr Postie has been getting here at 3 in the afternoon and what time do you think he came today yes youv'e guessed it 7.30. so much for a lie in, he's used to me looking like Cherie Blair on election day so at least l didn'y scare him off. With this early wake up call l managed to get the washing out, do breakfast and then watch Quincy- love Quincy and Columbo - and then to my joy Columbo was on but l'm sure l'd seen it before. Family have just gone of to the football so l'll have a little me time this afternoon trouble is l've so much to do l don't know which job to do first. Anyway l'm off for a cup of coffee so will post tomorrow. x
