Thrifty Finds

l haven't had chance to share my Thrifty Finds with you this week so thought l would do it now while its too wet to go in the garden

This was my first buy of the week not a bargain but for £10 l'm happy, this will be painted in Cath Kidston or Laura Ashley  paint and given a patchwork top - watch this space

This tureen was £1.50 as one handle is broken but l just loved it

A £1.00 vintage scarf very in at the moment - and tied round my throat as we type

and my final buys a 50p purse - very vintage and a £2.00 brooch

l thought l did quite well !

Rebel without a Cause

l thought l would share my latest tattoo - l had a butterfly done many many years ago l think during a midlife crisis and for some reason best known to me l thought l'd have one done of my foot. Why may you ask but l have no idea l am a normal l would say middle class women dressed from Boden and Orla Kiely with a bit of a twist -l think l wanted to be noticed as being hip and trendy as the years fly by. Well l can say l won't be having another it hurt like hell and l got an infection which has only just gone so l was noticed because l couldn't wear my shoes and walked with a limp for a few weeks. Here's a picture of it and one of a real ' Rebel without a Cause'

And just in case you don't know who it is its James Dean.

Ride em Cow Boy

l just had to share this photo as posted on HenHouse blog of this so cute knitted cow boy, l want one and the fabric cushion is fab. l envy people who can put themes like this together just look at the books in the background and the miniature rocking horse.

So not being the best at waiting for something l thought buy one pre done so l put knitted cow boy into ebay and came up with the following knitting patterns which set my memory going back to when l was younger and went out with a boy who modelled for knitting patterns isn't it funny how something can set your mind going.

and before you as no l didn't marry him but my husband did look like the 'Milky Bar Kid' - back to cowboys- full circle

Crowning Glory

Well the title could suggest the state of my hair but it doesn't is the title of the latest Cath Kidston instore event. Those of you that buy from Cath Kidston will by now have received you catalogue and in this is the chance to go on one of their in store events - l managed to get on the Manchester after leaving my number and waiting for a call back for 1 1/2 hours - but who cares l'm on and l cannot wait the girl doing the books said that they had had unprecedented interest.
We are going to embroider a guards hankie which we can then turn into a cushion or frame.
l'm going to go for a cushion and try and buy some guards fabric.

pincushion swap

Just signed up with 'sew far sew good'   whos blog is  http://charlottesewfarsewgood.blogspot.co.uk/ to do a pincushion swap. Maybe some of you would like to join? l love to receive items from other crafters as you never know whats going to arrive.

another fine hobby l've got myself into

l have resisted the temptation to do 'patchwork' for a very long time as l cannot be bothered with the templates ironing and tack well l've stumbled on a lady who does all this preparation - using Cath Kidston Fabrics and all l have to do is hand sew them together. So another wet Sunday purchase was one of her kits which came yesterday and l've now ordered another and l'm up and running making a patchwork cushion.  Her shop is on Esty and called Shop: edinburghpatches this is the one l'm doing

This listing is for 60 hexagons covered in genuine Cath Kidston cotton fabrics.

The hexagons measure 2.5" at their widest point (1.25" sides) and the fabric is cut along the grain at the base.

The fabrics in this pack are: Red Paisley, White Hampton Rose, White Rose Sprig, Blue Provence Rose, Mini Shooting Stars, Sprig Red, Blue Mini Dot, Mini Strawberries, Rosali Floral, Rosali Red & Blue Gingham, Blue Ditsy Flowers and Red Dot on Pink.

The fabrics are all tacked on to paper templates and all you have to do is pick up a needle and thread and get started!

When sewn together in the sequence shown in the photo they will produce a 14" square of patchwork when trimmed to size. This could make the front of a small cushion or could be enlarged by adding a border. Of course they could make the start of a quilt if you're feeling ambitious!

For those of you following me l am still working on the Cath Kidston crochet kit and l will post picture once completed.

Jubilee Madness

Well shows you what a wet Sunday does for your bank balance - just look at these fabrics,ribbons and badges. l think l have got Jubilee Madness

These 3 fabrics are London by Makower and l purchased them through a website new to me 'Sew and So's' these are going to make cushions l think.
Then these lead me to two Cath Kidston fabrics

and then to top of my days spending l found these ribbon from 'The Laurel Tree' and the badges from

 ' Kaela Mills' both via 'not on the highstreet.com'

All l need now is time to make something and a party to show them off.

My friend will be so jealous l might make her a cushion l'll see how it goes.
